Good evening folks. I have a dilemma. Got in a minor accident and ripped off the fender. So of course I just had to rip the other three off and replace them with some flats�� bushwhacker to be exact. At least that's what I told the wife, stop judging, we all have our ways of getting things done, lol.

Anyway, I currently have 2.5 aev lift and now flats sitting on 285/70r17 if I remeber correctly, basically 32.5x11.5x17. I now have lots of empty space between tire and flares and have the bug to fill it up a little. I'm thinking about 35x12.5, but I'm quite positive 37x12.5 will fit, though I think that's a little overkill for me especially for my 2 door. I can freely admit I'm 90% an onroader as are most of us I suspect. I also kinda dig the new general grabber x3, the red letters just look awesome, and all Reputable competitors considered, they're not that expensive, cheaper in lots of cases. I'm rambling....four questions....

If by chance I went with 37, other than gearing what do I need to do?

If I go with 35, other than gearing what do I need to do?

anyone have experience with the grabber x3?

and if you had the two door what would you do?

i dont know what engine or trans your jeep has so its hard to say but personally i went with 35's and will have 4.56's installed in the next few weeks hopefully. I have a 2012 so it has the 3.6 and the 6 speed.

I havent personally ran the grabbers but a guy in town had them on his tj for a while and said they were ok but he did not really care for them so he swapped them out. never gave any exact reason for the change.

 

3.8, manual, 3.73's, factory chopped flares, and 37*13.5"- it looks awesome but needs regearing if I stay like this. Proportionately, it's everything you could want but I'm looking at going 35" from my 285's as well.





Aside from pulling a fender flare (which I think a tree bumped into the tire), it doesn't rub- even in a twisty ditch where I can usually find rub spots.

 

i like it, what suspension work have you done?

 

It's the 2.5" RK coils with 'some' weight, but not a ton. It's right at 2.5" and seems like less.

 

I currently have Goodyear DuraTracs 315/70R17 on mine and love them. I did install spacers because I am running the stock wheels currently. So, depending your back spacing you might need them. For 37s, I plan on going with Nitto and beadlockers this Spring\Summer.

u need 5.13 to move and a lot of gas

 

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but wondering if running 37's with a dana 30 front axle with c gussets, hd ball joints, and a truss is enough to run 37's and do moderate trails without expereince any major axle issues??? Assuming brakes will need an uopgrade also

Also already have 4.56 gear ratio, with adams 1310 solid u joint driveshafts.

 

I run 37's with 2.5" lift. Ran with the 3.8, auto and stock 4.10 gears for about a year and a half. It was doable, but I've been running 5.38's for over a year now with the same setup and it is a night and day difference. I would definitely advise to do the gears the same time you do the tires.
