Default Tire Size Question

I know that the standard width is 12.5 is it recommended to go wider, is there a rock crawling advantage for that. I was thinking for 35s 35/13.5/17 is that a good idea

Depends on rim backspacing but generally speaking sticking with 12.5" wide is probably a good idea.

I went to 14.5 for floatation reasons. It'll help in snow (suck on road slush) and help with muddy ruts and soft turf around me.
