Default Tire size question

Looking to put on some 33's, but can't decide on the width. I don't want them to stick out too much, but would anything less than a 12.50 look too narrow. I'm probably going with a set of 17x9 mamba mr1's. Any input is appreciated.

I am currently looking also. Check out the km2 in 285/75/17 it's about a 34x11.5. Just looked it up its 33.8x11.3. There are a few other makers that have that size.

Here's my buddy Tyree's 2012 Sahara (forum member: Tyreelp)

2.5" Skyjacker sport lift and 3/4" Daystar coil spacers
1.75" Rough Country wheel spacers
285/70R17 Toyo or Nitto tires (can't remember which brand but it's one of them two)

His is in the back, my JKU is up front but it's a god angle at his tires

Hope this helps with a visual of those tires and the setup he has.

285/70/17 BFG A/T KO tires on stock wheels with 1.5" RC spacers.

Love them. ~32". Don't stick out too much.

That setup looks good. That's a size that may be harder to find though. I like nittos, but I heard they are pretty heavy. I definitely want an A/T tire because my jeep is a daily driver and the nittos seem to be priced the best. Hmmm

I have the Toyo Open Country A/T II in size 285/75R17. I would definitely recommend checking them out. Yes they are a heavy tire and they are load range E, but I don't mind the harsh ride. You definitely wanna chalk test to make sure you are running them at the right psi.
My wheel spacers haven't come in yet so I'm driving with these tires on stock rims. I get light rubbing at full turn, but other than that they're fine. Haven't got a chance to test the flex yet because of shitty weather but there appears to be enough room. Without wheel spacers they aren't sticking out past my fenders but do have a nice look to them, with the spacers I'll probably be about even with the edge of my fenders.

Overall, I'm happy with these tires even though they're more for a heavy truck, I definitely recommend you check em out. I got mine through TreadDepot who is a vendor here. I ordered them on a Monday afternoon and they arrived at my house on Thursday morning.

285's are no where near 34" you'd be lucky to get 32" 's out of them...

It really depends on your BS and wheel offset which will determine how much the wheel/tire will stick outside or inside the fenders. here are my 295/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers (mounted they are a true 33" tire). Wheels are 4.5" BS with -12 offset. They look awesome IMO and are great on the trail. However, they are a heavy tire. Somewhere between 92-94 lbs mounted on my xd addicts.
