Default Too Hot on Inside -no carpet

Will LineX be enough to block the heat from the floor?

I have the carpet removed on my 08 Unlimited Rubi. I have cheap floor mats in back and Jeep floor mats in front. On a recent trip from Houston to Concan Texas, the floor of the Jeep got very hot. This made the inside of the Jeep not also. The kids in the back couldn't even put their feet on the rubber matts; they were hot also. Underneath the front seats was so hot you could not hold your hand on the floor very long.

Short trips are no problem, but long trips (4-6 hours) ain't gonna work. I have to do something.

I hate the carpet; considering Line-X. I know it woud help with sound, but would it be enough to block the heat too?

Yes, it will still get hot with line-x. Line-x is a very strong coating that is highly durable and uv protectant. It was first introduced for the beds of trucks. It will make the interior of the JK look good and much easier to wash after offroading, and many members on here have done this route and couldn't be happier. But it's not a heat shield like the carpeting.

Thought -- why don't you still line x it because it does look better with it IMO and it does make the interior easier to wash out, but cut out floormats with the carpeting and install what you cut out when doing these long road trips? I'm sure the inside of the JK will still get hot, but I would assume that the floor would at least not be burning the bottom of your kids feet.

granted, I haven't had my Line-x long, but I haven't noticed any increase in heat. I drive 80+ up to Boise from where I'm at usually 2-3 times a week (about an hour-hour/half trip), and I haven't noticed any significant increase in heat coming from underneath.

I also haven't had my doors on in about a month, which may help cool it, and I've keep my quadratec floormats in the front/rear/cargo area.

My floor gets hot too. I just cut and installed some 3/4" rubber mats for the foot area. I think the 3/4" rubber should do fine. I had some 1/4" rubber, but it didn't help much.

You might want to consider putting foil heat shield on the bottom of your Jeep. Just stick it on the tub above the exhaust and transmission.

im line-x ing mine either next week or the week after if I do my calculations correctly the water that accumulates in my wells (the main reason for the line-x) should be a good insulator. I just bought my chisles to get that damn rubber stuff up should be fun

Where are you having your Line-X done? They closest Line-X place to the Houston area is in Austin. I could not find anything closer than that! It would be nice to have one near by.

I haven't found a LineX dealer yet. There is a place in League City called The Shop Offroad. They spray liners but it is not LineX brand.

They also spray a product called 'Safe Floor'. It is more for boats but will work in Jeeps. He has sprayed several already. It is thick and rubbery. It can be sprayed in any color you want.

No, it won't.

I have my entire interior tub Line-X'd (see link to thread in my sig) and it eliminated the heat completely (read: zero perceptible difference between it and OEM carpet relative to reducing heat from the floor).

Probably the best overall mod I've done.
