I'm Line-Xed and have never experienced the heat problem. I also have a body lift which gets my tub further away from the sources of heat. They are cheap and easy to do. Give that a try

I have wondered if one of the thicker products (Armorthane or Rhino-line) would be better at keeping out the heat?

Hello? You won't have any heat with a Line-X'd tub, honest. Take it from a guy who knows!

I had Rhino in a Chevy pickup in the 90s. It was softer, faded after about three and a half years, and I eventually tore it while shoveling river rock out of the bed. Not impressed. Sure, it was great when it first came out, but Line-X is the superior product.

While I'm sure Line X or any of the other liner products produce some level of heat protection, and perhaps sufficient for a 2 door manual transmission JK, it might not be enough for the longer exhaust run of an unlimited. Add in a sure to be heated up transmission tunnel for the automatic, an owner in the Houston area and you have a recipe for a foot cooker.

I definitely think the Line X is a great solution for a carpet replacement and a tough coating for the interior, while I think there are certainly better ways to keep heat out of the tub.

when I first started looking at products, Line-X was only available in black
Black+Texas Sun= Cooked Feet
reguardless of exhaust and tranny heat
But I see now that Line-X comes in colors, I will have to research again

I won't argue - it does get hotter than the hubs of hell in Texas.

I have dark gray Line-X in mine, a charcoal I guess you'd call it. Matches the gray in the JK interior. I occasionally drive barefoot w/o a problem. [shrug]

It might be cool to have them color match your Rescue Green. I love that color!

I have been told the other products get a green tinge to them after a while when you use a light grey, which would not be a problem(for me). I am thinking of a Khaki, since I have Digital Camo seat covers.
I was looking at the thicker products to keep from chiseling out the factory sound deadening
(thoucht they would self level a bit) I was not too concerened with the toughness (I dont plan on shoveling rock in and out of my Jeep )
I agree that Line-X is superior
I wonder how their colors hold up, and if it would be lighter in weight to the thicker products

Khaki would look awesome in a green JK!

The coloration process is basically a top coat with UV protection as part of the mixture, at least that's what the Line-X installer told me when I inquired. I've seen several samples of color match and it's pretty amazing how close they get.

I don't think thickness is effected in any perceptible way. Might be a teeny bit thicker, but not much I wouldn't think.

That colored Linex Xtra stuff is SWEET!!!

The shop that shot my JK had an old Ford Bronco with the body sprayed in Blue and Orange (for the Boise Broncos) and it looks like vibrant paint, with texture obviously. He said it had been out there about 1.5 years now and the color still looks amazing to me.

The Rescue Green with the Khaki interior would look SIC!

Get some thin aluminum sheet and cut some heat shields with tabs cut on the ends- roll the stuff around the pipe, leave a gap twixt the pipe and aluminum sheet and secure each end with radiator hose clamps.....it will block the heat.
