Tow capacity
Once I towed my Mastercraft X-star, which has a dry weight of 5,400 + 50 gal of fuel + gear = about 6,000lbs. About 20 miles in the mountains. I would not want to do that very much, it made it slowly. The worst part was loading the boat in the water, gravel and that heavy boat I thought I was gonna get pulled down by it. Good thing I have a slip and only load/unload the boat once a year. I used a truck to pull it out.
Tow capacity in a 2 door = 2000 lbs
Tow capacity in a 4 door with 3.21 gears is 2000 lbs.
Tow capacity 4 door with 3.73s or 4.10s (rubi) is 3500 lbs.
The tow ratings did not change with the new motor. My last Jeep had the 3.8 and the owners manual said the exact same ratings as my new 2014.

When listing tow capacity ratings, you now have to include the year, because they did change with the 3.6L engine.
For example, the rating for the 2dr and 4dr with 3.8L and 3.21 gears is 1,000 lbs. This was all covered earlier in this thread.

Do a little research on the earlier JKs. When listing tow capacity ratings, you now have to include the year, because they did change with the 3.6L engine. For example, the rating for the 2dr and 4dr with 3.8L and 3.21 gears is 1,000 lbs. This was all covered earlier in this thread.
