Their diesel JKs must have more cooling capacity in addition to more torque.
Holy Cannoli! The Europe JKs are rated to tow 7,716 pounds!!

I had no idea our JKs had that much margin built in! We are limited in cooling (add a cooler and that's fixed) and torque (go slower), but there's a TON of margin!

That's like my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. Dodge magically increased the payload on the 2010 models by 1500 lbs and the towing by 1350 lbs with absolutely NO changes to chassis, computer, or any other component. Here's a quote from Pickuptrucks.com:

“When developing the all-new 2009 Dodge Ram, the goal was to match the previous-generation Dodge Ram tow capabilities. These goals were achieved and delivered on the all-new 2009 Dodge Ram 1500,” Dodge truck spokesman Roger Benvenuti told PickupTrucks.com. “For 2010, engineers determined the Dodge Ram was capable of towing much more than previously tested. Subsequently, the tow ratings were reassessed and the 2010 Dodge Ram increased its gross combined weight rating by 1,500 pounds without any component or calibration changes to the vehicle.”

If they can do that to the Dodge, why can't the let us in on the JK???

Gets even better; crossing the Channel adds another 1400 kg (3000 lbs) towing capacity for the Petrol version:

Here's some data from the Dutch DMV website, please note, this is about the Petrol version, not the Diesel!

Brandstof (fuel): Benzine
Aantal cilinders 6
Cilinderinhoud 3778 cm3
Vermogen (power) 146 kW

Massa leeg voertuig (weight when empty) 1.850 kg
Toegestane maximum massa voertuig (max load) 2.450 kg

Aanhangwagen (Trailer):
Maximum te trekken massa (max pulling weight):
- ongeremd (not braked) 450 kg
- geremd (braked) 3.330 kg <<<<<

So the rated max pulling capacity for the Jeep Wrangler 3,8 V6 Petrol for trailers/caravans (when braked): is 7341 lb

Which is fair of course , Jeeps overhere are about twice as expensive compared to the States.
