Default Tpms

So I've had my new lift and tires and wheels for almost 2 weeks now and so far so good, until this evening. I've got the procomp 7005 series wheels that as far as I know does not have the sensor in them for tpms. Well as i was driving to my aunts today it just so happens that it goes haywire and flashes as me the whole way there and back. Still is going off as we speak. It's not ON but flashing. I've got the flashpaq to disable it but what could be causing it to go crazy like this?

well, to the best of my knowledge, it should be flashing at you if you don't have any tpms sensors in your tires. have you tried disabling it with your flashpaq?

Yep, it should have been flashing from day 1 if there are no TPMS sensors in the wheels. The flashpaq works great to disable.

The computer is making the warning light flash because it is not reading the sensors that are not there. You just need to disable the TPMS with your Flashpaq.

On a related note, is the warning different for no-TPMS vs TPMS-but-low-pressure? The reason I ask is, I have new TPMS installed on the new wheels and the warning light flashes at startup for about 3 minutes, then stay lit. All tires are at 32psi and I have set the procal to 31psi threshold, but it's still warning me after driving for over 50 miles. This got me thinking that the TPMS are not detected? The light started flashing 2 weeks after I installed the new wheels. Does it take that long for the computer to adjust (or not) to new TPMS?

yes, unless you clear the computer, it can take a while for your computer to adjust to any new changes. however, have you tried adding more air - at 32 psi, you are near the threshold and your pressure gauge could be off a bit.

The dash warnings are different.

I got similar indications as you. I swapped my wheels and for a few weeks I got no TPMS warnings. Then all of a sudden it would light at startup and chime 3 or 4 times. After I installed the sensors back into the wheels it still lit the (_) and chimed a few times while I was running errands. The next day at start up I got a single chime and a Lo tIrE. I checked my pressures and added a few psi to a low tire. Haven't heard a peep out of it since.

So your saying that I can add the sensors back to my wheels? How do I do that and can I use the sensors from my old wheels?

Have you read your manual? Guessing not...

Generally, the warning threshold is set 4psi less than the desired tire pressure (ie. set the threshold at 24 psi for tires running at 28psi).

Some users have reported the TPMS indicator lamp staying on after setting the Low Pressure Threshold to a new value. The TPMS sensors use timed and pressure-loss triggers to update the vehicle of tire pressures. In the event that the Low Pressure Threshold has changed to a value equal to or higher than actual tire pressure, the tires must be inflated to at least 5 psi over the new low value. The vehicle must then be driven up to 10 minutes above 15mph before the TPMS sensors update the vehicle of the new tire pressure. Once the reported tire pressure is 5psi above the Low Pressure Threshold the TPMS indicator lamp will turn off.
