TPMS modifcation/ remount
yeah, been doing tires for 7 years now. those are the SOB when you roll over to the tire machine and break the beads and snap..... F#@*! there goes $50. ford did them like this, when the corvettes started running them they also ar like this. here is the 2 problems...
1. you can t tell that they are in there unless the owner tells you, or you know the vehicle has them.
2. they aren t forgiving when the tire bead come down into the drop center to be mounted. the bands break, the sensor cracks, and sometimes you just can t get it to mount.
i wouldn t do this. i didn t put my sensors in the new wheels and don t plan on it either. i was going to figure something out to get the light to go off, but i am used to it.
want to buy 5 sensors with 2000 miles on and the 5 th (spare) has 0 miles. $175 for all 5 shipped!

they charged us 12.00 per tire for install and balance
Thanks JKKAT
Hey Greasemonkey,
Does PA have state safety inspection? If so, how to you plan on passing inspection? If not, disregard. I read somewhere on this forum that as long as the TPMS idiot light is functional, it is not required to have the sensors installed. Anybody know the actual law?
Thanks JKKAT

are these things in the 07?I've got them in my 'vette, they tell me the psi in each... i'm guessing they aren't like that in the JK, just says low or high or something

if I was able to get them to work well in my 07, i'd be interested.

The TPMS are not in the 07 JK. You are correct, they do not specify even which tire is low, let alone the absolute pressure. Light comes on, must check all five tires if it's not obvious.

yeah starting in 2008 federal reg. state all vehicles must have them. and yes if the mechanic looks for something like that they shouldn t pass it if you don t have them. i have a mechanic who will pass me (nice to work in the tire business and have friends!) but if not i am getting 35's this summer and will be putting my 33's on the factory wheels to have a extra set of tires.
