Default TPMS ? on ordering tires on line

If I purchase a tire/wheel combo on line, will a local tire shop have to break them down in order to install the TPMS sensors? Sure would be nice to have them show up and just swap out the stems.

Thanks in advance!

actually, that's a good question and one you should ask whomever you're buying your tires from. being that you can buy new TPMS kits, i would think you could get them preinstalled. but, i have an 07 so i wouldn't know for sure

Yes!! but you should be able to buy the sensors from where you buy the wheels and tires and have them install them before shipping. They are about $60 each.

You can buy them from Discount tire direct, they are like $40 or something. Or you can have them broken down at the shop. Kind of a pain actually. It is one of the main reasons I am not going to buy tires and wheels on line.

I just went through this myself. I bought my tires and wheel through 4wheelparts. They wouldn't mount them without the pressure monitors. Said it was a liability thing. They made me an appointment. I took it in, walked down the street for a couple of beers for about an hour and when I got back it was done. No big deal. They put new stems in the old (3000 miles)wheels and remounted the tires for free. I was anxious to get em on too, but hey it's done now and I'm a happy camper. By the way, it took 5 days for the TPMS light to go off.

yes they would have to break them down. tpms is part of valve stem. Just order wheels and tires without having them mounted, then have it done locally.

Unless, however, you wish to buy extra TPMS from dealer.

I just had mine pulled from my stocks.

I plan to reuse the factory stems, so do not want to buy new.

Good to know. I will order separately and have them mounted locally.

Thanks.

Follow up question: Do the Procomp wheels accept the factory sensors?

I ordered mine offline and worked the deal to include new TPSMs. Delivered and ready to go. However, they trigger at 34 psi. When running closer to 30 psi, the light is always on - but atleast they are there should I ever decide to sell.

When you have your computer flashed for the bigger tire have them lower the sensor to go off at 25
