TPMS question
Maybe this is a question that has been asked before, but if you replace the factory wheels and tires do you need to change anything for the TPMS. I have heard two different things. Is there a sensor in the wheel or is it based on tire rotation.
Thanks for the help in advance

I had Discount tire (you can have any tire place do it) remove them from the stock wheels and install rubber valve stems into the stock wheels. They then inserted the TPMS into my new wheels for FREE! I figure they should after dropping 2200 bucks with them. You can see the gray valve stems in the new wheels. This is how you can tell if you have the TPMS or not.

Can the TPMS valves be added *after* the tires are mounted/balanced on the wheels? It sounds like they can't.
I'm in the middle of ordering new wheels/tires, and they're wondering whether I want to pay $39*5 for new TPMS sensors.

No the beads must be broken then the tires removed from the outside bead. Then the TPMS sensors are removed and/or replaced with rubber valve stems if you still want to sell or use the rims. They will then insert them into the new wheels and then add the tire.
