looking to go have my tires mounted on my new wheels. lift will be going on within a few days. do i absolutely NEED the TPMS sensors or would i be ok not putting them on the new tires?? need quick answers!!!

Yes just the DING and you get to look at this (_!_) light all the time on your dash. I coughed up the $150 for 5 sensors on the aftermarket rims & tires.

 

If you don't transfer them to your new wheels, hang on to them. You can't sell or trade in your Jeep without them. It is a law now they must be on the vehicle, it is no different then trying to sell it after you take off an airbag.

 

Also.. if you live in a state that has inspections you can fail. Best time to install them is when you mount the new tires to the new rims... Looks like your just in time.

A side note: I was very excited to hear I would have TPMS on my 08. My mother-in-laws quest has it and it tells her the actual air pressure in each tire individually. Then when I got the Wrangler I see we get a bell and a light...2 years newer and 10 grand more than her Quest.

 

Well if you cant live with the light and ding just get someone to fab up a tank to put them all in and keep it in the back of the jeep. Keep the tank pressurized to 45 psi and you will have no light w/ no sensors in the tires. Thats what people do all the time over here with after market wheels that cant fit sensors. Or they put them inside there spare tire, which is CRAZY! If they ever get a flat and need it then they will get jacked up rolling around in there.

 

i just took them out of my stock wheels and put them in the new ones and sold my stock ones without them in it... worked perfect... they did not need to be re flashed either worked out great... i did not want to look at a warning light on the dash
