Default tranny toast at 22,000 miles

i just bought my 2007 unlimites sahara with a 3.5 rubicon lift anf 35s. it had a trouble code of 0841 which is a transmision fluid sensor switch. when i got on the highway it would go in limp mode and stay in 3rd. i figured it was a computer problem. I took to the dealer i got it from and they said it needed a new tranny :( luckily they are paying for it but it still seems bezare that it already needs a new tranny after 22,000 miles. has anyone else had problems with there auto transmission?

It was used.

No telling how the previous owner drove it, or maintained it. Maybe they couldn't be bothered to get an aux trans cooler to prevent overheating, or ignored the transmission dash light for a year or two...

Would it be safe to say that it still has stock gears? I would guess that an auto with 35's and stock gears would cause some transmission problems after a while...

ditto ^

You never know how the previous owner treated it. I've got some horror stories of "pre-owned" vehicles coming into the shop.

Agree if it it used. I know people who lease never change the oil and drive it like they stole it.

As soon as you get it back add a AUX trans cooler. Auto transmissions in the JK can and do have overheating issue when mis treated or just doing what we do in jeeps. trans cooler is cheap insurance against over heating. Heat is the number 1 enemy of automatics.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the sahara came with 4.10 gears I thought they came with 3.73's? Either way with a auto tranny and 35 you really should run 5.13 gears. The constant shifting of your auto causes the tranny to run way hot! Not to mention the extra shifting your tranny has to do to keep up to speed will cause a lot of wear on the clutches! You might want to look into a gear change asap.

07 autos all came with 4.10s, i called jeep to confirm that. also i noticed on my carfax that 07-08 wranglers had a recall with there transmission fluid overheating, i wonder if that was the cause, aparently they forgot to install a fluid temp warning sensor.
