LAX- Please do not assume because I tried to be rather forceful in my opinion to you about switching your tranny from auto to manual that I was minimising your question. NOTHING could be further from the truth. What I was trying to get across was the fact that this is NOT an easy switch, regardless of the ''oh gee- no problem comments'', that this type of question obviously generates by guys that don't care if you get your butt in a fix. Unless you have a fairly extensive background in automotive assembly and a complete understanding of interelated automotive systems and a complete donor vehicle to strip for parts this is not a good home project to get tied up in. You are much better off to sell your Jeep outright and to go and purchase one that is equipped with a manual transmission. I have no doubt that you could get into 2500-3000 bucks in parts not counting the used tranny. COMPUTER (don't forget any flashing necessary at a dealership you could talk into working on this hybrid.) A big thing to watch for any HARNESSES needed. Any vehicle harnesses needed that have to be obtained from the dealership are notoriously expensive. A clutch assembly and all related operating pedals, hydraulic systems, BOLTS,CLIPS, BUSHINGS.ETC. The tranny mount, crossmember, and all attaching HARDWARE. Throttle control- is there anything that has to be changed out here? You have to find out this kind of answer BEFORE your switch- ANY questions pertaining to the switch MUST be answered BEFORE committing yourself to this extensive project. Remember any problems that crop up during this switch will have be addressed with the correct solution being found, and also addressed with your money. BEST of luck whatever you choose....
P.S. Remember that most engine control harnesses cannot be spliced or cut because most of your contol sensors operate by resistance values, which on a spliced harness go all to hell. Your console and boots and related parts are different also..... blah blah blah....
