Default Transfer case linkage issues

I think I managed to snap the "awesome" little crappy plastic bushing the other day. Somehow I managed to get it in 2Hi, but I was freaking out because I know diddly squat about mechanical things. Doing some research I came across Jeepers all over have experienced this phenomenon and I was wondering if Jeep has decided to make a more sturdy part or are the gonna let sleeping dogs lay?

I broke mine a few weeks ago. I did the research and found some modification threads here on the forum. I found it best to buy an advanced adapters transfer case linkage kit off of quadratec for 190 bucks. It completely replaces our junky plastic linkage and replaces it with metal at all the weak points. I am very happy with mine. Shifts smoother into 4lo then ever before. It feels solid and much easier to control then the original molar linkage. Although install was a moderate to advanced job. You have to remove your transfer case yoke and modify your housing inside the center console slightly. But well worth it.

Ok so I wasn't sure what look for or where to look for it at. But what I did find that could have been the cable and transfer case appeared to be still connected. Is there another place in the cable set up that could have failed or am I just up the creek and have a ruined t-case?

It's a shame it isn't this peace, 46 cents at the dealer and the orange one underneath was $1.80
if I remember right. I just bought a couple extras, but have yet extend the cable loop to the next furthest floorboard hole.
This would make the cable so it don't shift so hard.

@ ky-wrangler the bushing pictured would not be visible under the jeep. That part is under the center console connected to the lever you move to put your jeep in 4x4. If you are looking under neath the jeep all should appear normal. Is there tension in your lever or does it feel like its not hooked up to anything?
