Transfercase+ DS angle help
I'm glad they are gonna cover it. That seems wierd for the transfer case bearings to fail unless you had some bad driveline vibrations and binding going on. Make sure when you get it back to set all your pinion angles so you have no vibrations. I am suprised you were able to run 6 degrees caster with no vibrations before? Good Luck!
Running the Jeep jacked up in 2WD or 4Hi will activate the ESP/Traction control and cause all kinds of normal drivetrain noise as the brakes engage and release. The noise has got to be in your front driveshaft if it goes away when you remove it. I also run a JE Reel in the front and the angle of the joint at the transfer case is pretty steep. I was not happy running lower caster to prevent the noise and vibration so I put on a locking hub kit. I was pleasently suprised to feel a little extra freed up power with the hubs unlocked. I am now thinking about sleeving the front housing and at the same time cutting the C's and rotating them for about 8 degrees of caster while maintaining a perfect driveshaft angle.
That's ok redneck , your often giving good advice all over this forum. When I put the jeep on 4 jackstands and ran it in 4hi the TF case sounded like cracking and popping and loose crap flying around, it did not sound normal to me. Now when I applied the brakes , I could tell the esp was kicking in as I new it would act kinda funky. On our tf case is there an inner and outer bearing, I think that there would be. If fact with the jeep sitting still , if I spun the frt flange as fast as I could, I could hear a junior noise like the one I hear at 20mph. Like a dry bearing noise, anyway the tranny guy wasn't there today and the counter guy, though helpful didn't really no details other than him ordering a buncha parts. And I knew you were gonna say that about the sound. I was just shootin hopin to hit somthin.
I ended up getting a whole new transfer case. There is still a noise, not as bad as before. Pretty sure the ds added TO the noise. I took the jereel out and put the stock ds back in and it's quieter. But still a bit of noise.

Take the Jack and Crown when you pick it up. To say thanks, and you know, for next time
