Is A Transmission Cooler Required?
I've started the process to get my jeep ready for the trails, but every time I do more research it seems like I find out more and more things are needed which has me questoning what truely is all needed to run 35's properly. So far my local shop has quoted me as follows:
3" lift - 750
C Gus's and Sleeves - 300
Gears - 5.13 Gears - 1200
I'm getting tires and wheels else where as they stated 3,500 for what I'm looking at. Today I then saw a thread talking about Automatic transmissions needing an additional tranmission cooler. Can you guys provide insight regarding this and possibly a full checklist of everything that one should do to run 35's properly? I understand this may be an open ended question as everyone has their opinions, but i'd still like to see what everyone thinks.
I'm going back to the shop tomorrow as they have my jeep currently getting a new bumper and some lights installed and would like to be able to talk to them about it without them just pushing more and more onto me. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

A tranny cooler is a very good idea, our autos get hot on the trail without it , although the kind of driving and trails play into it as well ! It's cheap and easy to do, its one of the first modds I did so I don't have to worry about overheating my tranny !!!

Don't think of it as 'required for 35's. Think of it as a good call regardless of tire size. Under $100 and fairly easy to install. You can find a few writeups (index at top of writeups area) to get you pointed in the right direction.

I am also wondering if the trans cooler is a good idea on a 2011. I some of the other threads are taking about earlier JKs but I just want to verify its needed on my 2011 4 door auto? Thanks all

The 2012 comes from the factory with one. They eliminated the small one on the bottom of the A/C condenser.
