Transmission Overheating
I have a 2009 JK unlimited that I purchased used last year. It had about 42K miles on and the previous owner put a 2.5” lift kit, 35” tires and steel bumpers on it. I was going to tow a tent trailer with it so I added a RIPP supercharger and a RIPP transmission cooler it. The problem I have is that transmission is getting very hot, even when not towing. I have a trail dash so I can monitor the automatic transmission temperature and it is not uncommon to have the transmission running at 200-215 degrees when driving around town. Then when I climb any type of hill the temperature rises even faster.
The SC cooler does cover part the transmission cooler but based on what RIPP recommends this is the configuration they recommend (SC cooler/transmission cooler/radiator/fan).
The gears are still the factor 4.10. Has anyone else experienced this and have any suggestions to help get the heat out?

You are not geared correctly for your transmission & tire size. RIPP suggests that you regear your jeep to match tire size & type of transmission as well. I bet your jeep is hunting for gears causing the added heat.
With the 3.8 & auto you should be looking at 5.13 gears. Some guys run 4.88s but I wouldn't.

I speak from experience:
4.10 - 32s, 33s & 35s (lasted 2 weeks)
5.13 - 35s & 37s (want 5.38 gears)
I after the first time it happened I replaced the transmission fluid because after it goes over 250 it is toasted. The cooler has been checked by several mechanics and there are no kinks in any of the line or obstructions. The problem happens off trail mostly when driving up steep grades. So I am not even in 4 WD. I am afraid to take off road to extreme until I fix the problem. When going up an elevation of around 4,000ft in 45 minutes I had to pull over three times to let the transmission cool down and I was not towing anything and I was turning off the OD and ESP. The rig shifts fine until it hits over 200 then it has some slipping but no complete lose of any gears.

That is what I am hearing. The actual size of the tires measures 33.5. I am taking to ORW next week have them test drive it and see what they recommend.
Ripp did not recommend connecting their cooler in series with the built in one on the radiator. They say it will transfer the heat from their cooler back into the built in one. So it did make some sense.
