Default trek top question

can factory door surrounds be used with trek top? If so are the results better?

Don't know but your new top should come with door surrounds. Probably won't as the Trektop is designed differently than a factory soft top.

No they cannot,

the trektop uses its own hardware.

customer service at quadratec said they can be used. Would that be correct? I have the trek top now and was going to pick up a set of the factory surrounds thinking they may work better and be of higher quality and help stop water from running in around the surrounds that the top came with. I have the new version of the trek top just for the record.

thanks for replies

theres no way, the trektop wraps around the new door surrounds, the stock ones will not work.

I found that the Trektop door surrounds are quite water tight with the full doors. I tried to get water in with a spray nozzle and could not get a drop inside. Some have leak issues, but you can also bend the mounting tabs a smidge to kinda custom fit the surrounds to the door.

I also found that I lost some annoying rattles once the stock surrounds were off.

I would be surprised if the stock ones work. but no harm in trying. Just don't discount the quality of the aftermarket. I find the entire set up quieter than the stock soft top...regardless of other's horror stories.
