Default Tuffy Security Deck Enclosure...

Has anyone put one of these in and how easy is it to take off the top when you want the dogs to jump in? Is it really that secure and how long to install?

Thanks!

Installed it, and after a couple of minor mods - love it. It really doesn't interfere with much. The exceptions are the bar at the bottom of the soft top window is snug against the enclosure, so you can't just grab and twist (like I've grown accustomed to) and I hear reports of not being able to use the soft top boot (which I don't have). I found some mats from McMaster-Carr that work great, and I put in some spring-loaded clamps. No rattles with or without stuff on top.

I don't have a problem with the dog because he has the back seat to himself (Rubi Unlimited). If you have a two door, I can't help you.

Just a question/observation. If I have the Jeep open, what's to stop someone from reaching in and using the door unlock to unlock the doors and get into the back. Is there an override for the tailgate to prevent this?

40 minutes to an hour to install (and I'm a medium speed sort of installer) - it's a trivial install.

It's very easy to remove the top. Just open the tailgate, pull the top forward and lift out (60 seconds or less when you get the hang of it but be careful if you have the hardtop on as you can scratch the Tuffy top on the hardtop hinge..

The question about whether you can just reach in when the top is off, unlock the doors and then access the contents under the security deck is a good one - I don't know the answer to that and I'm not near my Jeep now so not that easy to check right now - maybe someone else can chip in.

Are you talking about power locks I don't have them so I don't know? You can't get into the back from the rear seats, there is a metal plate that sits against the seatbacks. If you lock the tailgate with the key, there is no way to get under the security deck.

In my '09 Rubi, locking the doors with the key fob disables the lock/unlock button on the doors. In other words, you can't unlock the tailgate by unlocking the door using the door switch. It takes about 20 seconds for the system to engage itself, but it is a pretty cool feature with the top off.

Thanks, I'll have to try it. I'm a teacher with a school laptop and I go to my kids games and run errands after school and it prevents me from dropping the top and not worrying about leaving things in. How much does the one shown cost?Who has the best price?

I don't have the tuffy security deck but I do have the flexatrunk and also have power door locks. I solved the issue by disabling the power lock to the tailgate. It is simple to do, just take off the panel on the tailgate and pull out the plug for the power door lock. Then you just use the key to lock/unlock the tailgate.

My 2009 Sahara is the same way. When you lock the doors with the key fob the interior lock switches will not work.
