Default Underseat security box in a 2011 two door...has anyone made it work?

I have a box I would like to install in my 2011.. but I have the fold and tumble front seats.. so technically, the box won't fit. But I take that as a challenge.

Looks like there is a steel cross-member at the front of the seat rail that is in the way. And, a second steel rod towards the back that MIGHT also interfere.

Two possible solutions I see at this preliminary stage..

Swap out the seat rail for one that doesn't tumble forward. Though Jeep had good intentions, even my kid can't really get into the back seat with that fold and tumble feature.. she is happier climbing between the front seats.. So I could do away with the tumble on the tumble on the drivers side with little repercussions.

But what are my options for retrofitting seat rails?

Second option might be to modify the cross-member. Possibly replace with another steel piece that attaches where the stock piece is, but make room for the security box and possibly bolts/rivets/welds up to the box itself for added strength? Really wish I knew how to weld, this would be a ten minute job..

Has anyone made any progress or have any suggestions that might be worth considering?

I had to take the seat out then remove the frame, then after taking measurements i cut the front brace wide enough for the box(safe) to fit, using some flatstock I welded a piece across the top of front brace. for the back I used a piece of 3/8 square tubbingand moved it up and back, after welding it in I cut the round tubbing out as close to frame as I could. I also had to modify the inboard mount on the safe as it was short and the hole was wrong. With the frame off the seat you can see how and where to modify the frame. Took me about an hour to do the mods.

Thanks... Sounds like you implemented exactly what I was visualizing..

Crap, I need to learn how to weld...

Did you you attach the box to the front flat stock? Looked like the stock could be positioned so it was flush against the top of the box..

Someone did a mod using large spacers and longer bolts to raise the entire seat about an inch or so. It can be done if you re not to particular about the new height. I elected not to do that and just returned by Bestop box.

No I just used the front mounts (one modified) although you could it comes very close to flatstock. I forgot to say my seat still slides and flips same as stock.

Click the link in my last post for a write-up.

I modified the seat rails and welded the box securely under the seat.
