unhappy 33 owners post up
35s here no regear, drives fine. Buddy has 33s and he wa happy until he saw mine. get the 35s, you won't regret it. Oh and as far as breakage.... 33s can snap a d30 just as easy as 35s.... all in how you drive it
had 33's.. if they measured 33" on a ruler I would have kept them.. but they measured 31.7 (33x12.5x5 BFG A/T's) removed them. put on 35x12.5x15 Goodyear MT/R w/kevlar. they measure 34.3" Much better!!
i have 3.73 and an auto. just yesterday I drove 180 miles on the interstate and must say, the highway driveability is BETTER with 35's. I had the overdrive off, got exactly 16.179 MPG and had no problems at all passing anyone or maintaining speed on grades.
with the "33's" with O/D off, the engine reved too high, yet with it on, the JK could barely maintain speed even when the highway was flat.

You said yourself "lots of highway miles"........I have 33s, 4:10s, and commute between 50-100 miles everyday. I do however also have a Superchips. I like the combo. Like Mark said..........I "may" go for 35s someday far away, but as of now it's not even an issue for me.
Ha!! He seems to be in the habit of AMAZING deals!! I just got his old bumpers and rock hard skids. This makes me very happy!
I have 33s on an unlimited with 4.10s. I'm very happy with my choice. I will go to 35s eventually...just because I think the unlimited looks better on 35s, but I want to do it right. I won't go to 35s until I do some other mods and get all my ducks in a row.
I'm running 33s. I've got a 4dr. X with 4.10 gears. Because she is my daily driver, 33s were the better choice for me. She is VERY functional on the trail. When these rubbers wear out, I'll probably upgrade to a 35, maybe a 37. But she'll also be paid for by then and I'll be upgrading the axle and possibly the gearing as she'll no longer be a daily driver.
So my opinion is to go with the 33s. They are functional off road and good for a daily driver. Plus you'll save a little coin on the purchase. Good luck.
