I have 4.10 gears with the 5 speed and just put 35's on. I couldn't imagine having 35's with 3.73's on a 6 speed. I can't wait to get my 4.88's in. I do prob. twice as much shifting and go through my gears alot faster. Its tollerable but not the way it should be.

I think it depends on your needs & wether you plan to regear. My wife's '07 auto with 4.10's & it's pretty happy with 33's. Any taller would require regearing to run right.

You will DEFINITELY want to re-gear if you go with the 35s. If you don't, your cruise control will be worthless on the highway.

I'm one of the lucky guys with the 2007 2DR Auto trans and 4:10 gears. 33's get the job done for me everyday..My Jeep spends as much time in the dirt as it does on the road.

Most guys running 35's are posers...as I would imagine that most Rubicons never see the dirt...There are a small percentage of guys that would need 35's or anyting taller. These are the guys that are out crawling a few weekends a month. There a quite a few on this board that do this kind of stuff religiously..But most don't, they just want to look like they do.

Here's what needs to be looked at to run 35's correctly..You need gears, New wheels and tires and a decent lift. Then for the 2Dr you'll need new drive shafts..My math comes out to around $5,000.00...Yeah, you can cut fenders and trim this or that to save on a lift if you want.

If your Jeep is your daily driver and used to commute to work and run errands around town with only occassional off road use stick with 33's. If you want to be part of the cool crowd wether you go off road or not and have money to burn go with 35's. If you have a 4 door unlimited you almost have to run 35's or your Jeep looks like a limo.

Better for what? I think on the four door especially, the 35s look better. Not that a Jeep with 33s looks bad (after all, I have 33s). And, if you need the 1" or so of additional clearance--well, of course they are better. But, I've chased all over the rocks and rugged terrain behind Jeeps with 35s and even the occasional 37s--and always kept up. On the highway and for daily driving, the 33s are going to perform better. Even if you regear, which is virtually mandatory unless you have a six speed and 4.10 gearing (and even then it's highly recommended), the 35s will underperform the 33s for on road performance. Yes, you can regear so they out-accelerate--until you regear with the 33s, then they still outperform. They will have a higher top end speed (had to hold my speed to 70 mph last weekend because a guy in our convoy had 35s and couldn't hold his speed at the 75 mph speed limit). Also, the 35s are heavier--that's gas mileage lost, even with regearing. And that's heavier unsprung weight, which means rougher handling. Finally, if you're more into the type of off-roading that I enjoy--long, multi-night trips across rugged terrain where you're self-sufficient--then gas mileage is a critical factor--the 33s are preferable. So, consider what you're really doing with your Jeep, and where you want it to perform best, and how important the appearance is to you, then make up your mind what compromise will be best for you.

4 door here...

I added the budget boost and didnt think it would look too bad with 33's

doesnt bother me that much, but saw same setup with 35's, and they just LOOK better. also plan to get tube fenders, but that might be pushin it with 33's. 35's is next. period.

go 35's, not gonna ask why you plan on BL too, but with that said i think 33's too tiny for that setup..

jmho..

I like my 33s. However, with my BB it looks kind of small with the 17 inch set up. I say go 33s and then when you have enough to invest in gearing, go 35s.
