I am kind of interested in getting stainless steel brake lines, mainly for the change in pedal feel that's mentioned above. How difficult is it to replace the brake lines? Could someone explain the steps/process involved?

It's a pretty straightforward mechanical swap, then you just have to bleed the brakes afterwards. Google "bleeding brakes" for a million write-ups.

It's really quite simple. Click on the link below to see a write-up I did for my TJ. The process is basically the same.

You can buy a complete set of four stainless lines in varying lengths for the JK for about $116 + shipping. It's a good upgrade that I haven't done yet, but am going to do soon.

I know this is an old thread but this single post just saved me $100

Everywhere I looked,
Front stainless brake lines cost $119
Rear stainless brake lines cost $119
for a total of $238.

I went to Rusty's:
Front stainless brake lines cost $69
Rear stainless brake lines cost $69
for a total of $138

There doesn't appear to be any differences between to two brands

Another great reason I LOVE this board

Thanks to all

Possible stupid question here. I don't understand how an extended brake line will help unless it is extending your ESP/AB wires too. Won't the wires pull off if you extend too much also?

I'm pretty certain that stuff is actually located in the engine compartment and controls the brake pressure/changes from there. The only line going down to the brake is the brake line.

Well for me it wasn't so much extended lines. It's because I just found that my rear brake line is almost rubbed through. I can't believe it hasn't popped yet.
Long story short.....I just put on my new KM2's and while the wheels were off I noticed the brake lines have been rubbing the rear shocks.

Dealer wants $50 a piece and I do mean a piece....that's $200 for the rear alone.

So why not upgrade everything at once.

Actually on the front, you have the brake lines and the sensor wire, running side by side to the calipers

Clayton Off Road Mfg sells JK front and rear brakelines for $79 a pair.

They are made for us by Crown. Many major manufacturers buy their brakelines from there. We order their top of the line DOT approved stainless steel brakelines with a Red UV coating that at 4 inches over stock for the JKs.

As for everyone elses products, length, color, price, well you will have to ask them.
