Default Valve Stems

So when i was on vacation last week, i decided to check the air in the tires....

i took the cap off the left front... no problem.
i went the the left rear.... as i turned the cap, it was a little tight, it snapped the top inch or so off of the valve stem.
i went to the right rear, again, a little tight this one came off all the while stripping the threads on the valve stem!
right front, half a turn and it broke the valve stem too!

WTF? what could have cause this? I get free balance and rotation from Pep Boys since i bought the tires there, and they did that about a week before i left. did the mechanic put the caps on with a freaking air wrench?

i am going back friday morning to have them replaced... on their dollar of course, but seriously, WTF?

My guess is they replaced your original caps with some metal ones.....thats a no no.....dissimilar metals cause it to corrode and the caps can fuse together.
