Default Vibration

About 3 weeks ago I did some nice rock gardens on a wheeling trip I did. I dented up my stock rear drive shaft and had a vibration. I got a je reel 1350 for the rear and I am triing to get it adjusted and I still can't get rid of the virbration. It's not bad accept around 80mph. I removed the front just to rule that out and I'm using an angle finder on the rear shaft and on the pinion, holding it on the edge of the housing and I am about 1 degree off which I would think that would be good. Is it possable that it is not the drive shaft and maybe a rear axle or flang? And also I got my tires rebalanced. Help please.

80 MPH vibration could be anything. Jack it up and run it in gear and check for a bad tire or a bent axle. Check for play in the pinion also.

Hi, thanks for the respons. I pulled the tires and the roter was out when I had someone give it gas. So I ordered new axels and hope this is my problem. The other was running perfectly staight do you think this is my vibration?

1° off in which direction? you're better off trying to get it on then purposefully have it off a bit. either way, i would try and play with your pinion setting as you should be able to get it figured out if it is in fact the cause of your vibes. also, is it an oscillating vibe or solid? if the later, it may not be your drive shaft.

Thanks I will shoot to get it right on. Its hard to get it exact going off the side of the flange but it looks like it is close. I don't think it is oscillating, it comes on from 45 to 50 and quits then above 65 it stays steady and gets worse the faster I go. I took my rear wheels off yesterday and my rotor has some sway in it with it running. The other side runs straight. Do You think this sounds like a bent axle flang. Again thanks

Thanks for the help I finnaly got it straight. It was a combination of a dented stock rear drive shaft and a bent stock passengers side rear flange. Replaced the rear axels and the vibration went away. I was starting to get worried because we are getting ready to head out on a 6000 mile trip.
