Default Vibration problem

I got a 2012 jku that yesterday I installed a rough country 2.5" bb lift and some falken Rocky Mountains 315/70/17 on stock rims. I also installed 1.5" wheel spacers. Yesterday it began shaking at 45mph and just got worse as I got faster and by the time I got to 75 it was getting scary. This morning I brought it in to get rebalanced. After trying twice it still has some vibrations at hwy speeds. Should it just be the balance of the tires or could something else be vibrating?

Did you at least go get an alignment?

Agree with this. Start by getting an alignment at a good shop. They'll also check all the steering parts for wear. Best $90 you'll spend trying to fix the issue.

No need to get a alignment. Camber can't be adjusted, Toe wasn't changed unless, you changed the tie rod, can't do anything about Castor unless you have adjustable control arms. When you installed the wheel spacers did you remove the factory rotor retaining clips? They are the things at the base of the wheel studs at the 10 o'clock, and 5 o'clock position in the pic. The wheel spacers must be flat against the mounting surface.

Could also be the tires not balanced, or not round (my guess). I had a set of 33" Falken Rocky Mountains on my '12 JK, and they never could balance them.

Good luck with your issues.

Yes I did remove the clips on the studs. Mine had 4 on each in the rear and 2 on each in the front.

Stuck to the top of the Writeups area is a good diagnosis thread for deathwobble and shimmy. Wouldn't hurt to go through it. The usual culprits seem to be loose trackbar bolts and tire balance, or tire placement if they are older and more worn, but it could be a number of different things. Probably wouldn't hurt to double check the spacer install also, just in case.

On a side note, I have gone to discount tire three days in a row to have the tires balanced. Even though it was done the prior two days, the tech on the third day said that two were out of balance. Assuming you bought through them, just take it back and have it redone.

I'm going to bring it back Monday to try to get it rebalanced. Should try a different tire shop? 3 of the tires are brand new and the other had 50 miles on it before the install. I didn't mess with the front track bar, and the rear I put a drop bracket on. Tomorrow I'm going to retorque the rear track bar. I guess I'll pull the tires off and check the wheel spacers, but I torqued them to 95lbs and used a medium loc tight.

Update

This evening I checked the wheel spacers ( got 100 or so miles on them), they were all still torqued. I put the factory tires back on and took it for a spin, hit upwards of 80mph and not one shimmy, shake, or vibration. Looks like my day off tomorrow will be at the tire shop getting balanced again. Should I try a different shop or keep going to the same one, they haven't charged me to balance them yet. And I trust the manager there to make it right as many times as it takes, he is also a member of our local jeep group.
