Default vinyl seats?

Has anyone ever thought about getting vinyl seats in the JK? I once had a friend with a CJ and his seats were very easy to clean and looked real good... not sure the durability with the elements... does it crack after years of exposure? Is it a good investment? seat covers a better way to go? I just dont like seat covers so this is my last resort

Well if you got the X model, you'd have vinyl seats from the factory.

I'm pretty sure the vinyl will eventually crack, especially if you have the top off for prolonged periods of time and the sun bakes it even more. All used vehicles I ever purchased with vinyl seats we all torn and/or cracked. Why I want to get some Wet Okole covers and hopefully save my seats for years to come.

As I posted in another thread about Leather seats.

The biggest advantage I saw with vinyl was when I rode home with my butt soaking wet from my cloth seat. And a buddy of mine just had to grab a sponge he kept in his Jeep and wipe off his vinyl seats then drive off.

I didn't now that vinyl was even an option. My X came with cloth seats, and I am glad.
I hate vinyl, especially in the nice Arkansas summer . There is nothing like pealing yourself out of your seat

As far as seat protection goings I think you are better off with some neoprene seat covers. When those wear out you can trash them and buy new ones.

The only JK I have seen with factory vinyl seats tore within the first few months of buying it. He got it replaced under warranty, but I am wary of the material quality.
