Also, something to consider - nearly every aftermarket bumper will accomodate an M8000. The superwinch, however, is not always accounted for. For example - my shrockworks bumper will not accept the superwinch. This is part of being a Warn - the brand makes it compatible with nearly every bumper out there.
X2. Warn's "cheap" M8000 beats the snot out of most of the other "cheap" brands GOOD models. You need to be careful with Superwinch's newer low cost models. They are made in China. I called around before I bought my Warn and Superwinch told me that right off. Not there's necessarily anything wrong with a winch made in China......it's just MY personal opinion that you're more likely to get a bad one dealing with that stuff. There are lots of good ones too, I'm sure.

I ordered the M8000 from 4WD a few weeks back. I haven't used it yet, but you can't beat a Warn for that price!!!

A winch is a pretty significant mod and you should weigh the cost and use of the winch for your needs. I looked at my likely uses and the weight of my 2door and how often I would really use the winch. The Smittybuilt is a good choice for many, the Warn m8000 is also a great choice for a little more money. I weighed all of the variables and decided on the Superwinch EPi 9.0. I am happy with my decision. Here are some of the reasons I choose the Superwinch but your needs might dictate something else.

Reasons for the Superwinch. $560
Low Price for a High end quality winch,
Fast line speed- Powerful - Waterproof Contactor- Low Amp Draw - External Brake Great for Synthetic line -Great Warranty -Snatchblock - 125ft. cable - well built thimble

EPi9.0 Warranty and Solenoid details:

"The Best Winch Warranty in the Winch Industry:
Limited Lifetime on winch mechanicals, 3 years on the switching solenoid, and 1 year on the remainder of winch electrical components
Superwinch builds exceptional quality, and value into every product we build. It was the development of the EP series that has brought our company to a new high in value and has prompted us to increase the warranty on the EP series, among others. EP winches have features that our competitors cannot match, even at nearly double the price!

Our exclusive solenoid, with its silver-alloy contact pads, thick copper buss bars, and submersion-quality sealed construction, make it clearly unmatched in the winching industry. It is simply the most reliable solenoid in the industry, so thousands of off-roaders can now enjoy the trail, worry-free. Our confidence in this product allows us to extend the electrical warranty on these solenoids to 3 years. Spare solenoids are not needed with a Superwinch EP or any of the other Superwinch products that carry this exclusive component."

Last year I bought the Superwinch EPi 9 after I was disgusted with Warm winches and the solonids that kept failing. I use a winch pretty hard. After a years worth of several hard pulls and one septic tank truck that was loaded in my back yard so had to use the snatch block and anchor my JK. I was able to pull him out too. This past summer, I came accross two Warns that failed and I had to use my EPi 9. From what I have seen and also they do have a limited lifetime warranty as listed above. I spent half a day one time trying to get Warm to warrant a problem I was having. In the end I had no warrany. Guess I will use the Superwinch until I find something better. By the way, I was able to check around on the web and was able to get one for just over $500 last year.

It seems to me on comparing the two warrantys, both Warn and Superwinch have the same gurantee.

Am I wrong?

Default My Two Cents

I have had the Warn M8000 on a previous vehicle and currently the Superwinch EP9.0 on my jeep and they both are good. The Superwinch has better electrical connections but I never had a problem with the ones on my Warn. The Superwinch also has the brake mounted outside of the cable drum which makes it better for synthetic lines because the drum does not get as hot.

Ultimately it came down to price for me and at the time I got the Superwinch cheaper.
