Default Weak JK Steering box

I have a 2012 Rubicon 4" lift w/35s and we all know the new JKs steering box is crap, we've read it over and over again. My specific problem is every time i come back from wheeling i have to recenter my steering wheel to keep the ESC in check. From what I've read and researched, this is probably due to the gear slipping inside the box when on the trail. I currently have a ProComp ES2000 stab (which works perfectly for my on road driving) and have researched upgrading to a hydro assist, however i don't think i trail hard enough to justify it. I've also read about the JKS steer box support upgrade, but I don't think it will do anything for the gear slip problem. I've been looking for heavy duty steering box upgrade but have yet to find anything. EXPERTS OUT THERE, PLEASE GIVE ME INSITE.

Gears dont slip unless they are just pressed on to a shaft with no key way or a spline and I dont believe that to be the case, although I havent had to tear mine apart.

Can you link us to some of that data? That's the first I've heard of the gears slipping.

I had the same issue with my '08 Sahara, it was the drag link that was causing the problem, the adjustment sleeve always needed tightened. I would start there, I can't imagine the gears slipping.

It is not the steering box, what's happening is you are bending the drag link ever so slightly. I did the same thing every time I played in the rocks with my stock drag link. I upgraded to Synergy, Reid & JKS steering components and no more problems

X2. I have never heard of the gears slipping in the box, or having to recenter the wheel every time you take it off road. Sounds like something else is going on.

May I ask where your steering stabilizer is? I have the Synergy drag link and tie rod too. The stabilizer mounts to the tie rod but I simply can't find yours.
Do you not use one or was it not on yet?

Id be willing to bet that the issue is your drag link. The stock drag link is extremely weak and will bend slightly whenever you wheel. Ive had the same issue several times in the past.

You don't need one with a properly built front end.
