Default welding your Cs.

went to a local shop and they said if you weld your Cs it just put pressure on the shaft and that breaks. What's the best thing to do ?

That doesn't make any sense. I wouldn't talk to that guy any more. Unless he meant axle tubes maybe?

X2 on that, i'm pretty sure he meant the axle tube....still makes no sense though because the added pressure still gets distributed throughout the gusset itself which is an added steel.....gusset - meant to strengthen weak points with pressure related issues. If that makes any more sense to you...

The C is likely a forged steel part. When you weld it, the temperature changes the steel grains and the final product might end-up worse than the non-reinforced original. So, if you plan to do it make sure that the guy welding it really knows his stuff.
