What is this and can I just grind it down or cut it off? Will it puncture my tires??

that's your pinch seam and yes, you can cut and or grind it down. in fact, when running bigger tires, you need to.

no, not really. it's easier to do with your tires off and a sawzall will take care of this in seconds but, i have done it on the trail with my tires on and a hacksaw in about 5 min a side.

Take your tire off before you do it. Also if you didnt know what that was in the first place maybe you should let someone else grind it down. Not hating, just saying.

If you cut it, make sure to spray it with some rust proofing or bedliner spray. Some people use a BFH and just pound it out of the way - a cut looks cleaner.

Pinch seam. People running 37's and larger usually trim it
