Do you guys think that running with a K&N will let in that much more dirt?

I don't have a horse in this race but it really comes down to two things (IMHO):

where you live/drive and how often you clean/replace your filter.

Goody is in the desert and worries a lot more about dust than I do (I worry about RUST), and rightly so. I think he has a very sensible plan for maintaining his jeep. If you live in a dusty area your filter is going to clog up more quickly.
So..... change/clean it more often.

How does a new paper filter compare to a new K&N? I dunno. But if one filters better than the other my guess is that it'll clog up sooner, too. And you better believe once you clog up a filter and keep drawing on it, particles are going to get through.

Pick one, keep it clean (or replaced) as often as is warranted by your conditions.

I use mopar paper and change it every 3rd oil change (15k). cheap insurance.

I put other because I run both. K&N with street driving. stock filter if I go offroading or real dusty area.
