What did you do with your 3rd brake light?

My husband found this cool LED brake light/turn signal/flasher/tail light that he installed. He chopped off the regular '3rd eye' brake light completely. This is wired into the hardtop.

OK---Pics below---I wanted to use the after market adapters but it did not fit between the tire carrier and my tailgate so here was my solution.
Cut the 3rd brake light off at the height I needed
Lined up the third brake light to keep it straight and marked with a grease pencil(get a friend to help)
Drilled a few holes in the mounting bracket and new tire carrier
Used to sheet metal screws to attach.
Tapped into the wiring that originally ran to the 3rd Brake Light through the tailgate.
Taped and Shrink wrapped all wiring.
Ran under carpet and weather stripping and out at bottom right of tailgate
Put inside a wire keeper and mounted to the tire carrier.
total cost approx $15 including wires/connectors etc.

I'm wondering how many of you have just taken the damn thing off and called it good...??? For those of you that have, did you ever get stopped by a cop because of it?
