Default What Fluid type in my Dana 30 differential and how much?

I have gotten a couple of different answers from my dealer on this so I am turning to you guys.

What type fluid is recommended to fill the dana 30 diff. up with and how much?

As far as how much I have gotten 1.05 quarts?

Any help would be appreciated.

Royal Purple Just regeared and after brake-in process went for the good stuff. Keeps gears cooler and helps wear and tear. I would never wanna cheap out on a gear investment but I also used Purple in my stock gear setup 30

Useful write-up.

Any name brand synthetic 75W-90 will do. Your differential does not know how much you paid for the fluid, so don't think that higher price means higher quality. And don't be misled by the RP nonsense about extreme pressure tests. Even the creator of that test denies its efficacy in testing lubricants for non-industrial applications (such as automobiles). Personally, I prefer Mobil 1, but have also purchased Valvoline when Mobil 1 is not available (go to get 4 quarts of one brand can be iffy in some places).

I used Valvoline synthetic 80W-90 on my front differential, I chose this because two auto parts places didn't have Mobil 75W-90 and the Jeep manual states SAE 80W-90

Royal Purple for me 75W90 in the Dana 30 and 44. Don't need any of those limited slip additives for the Dana 44 Rear if you decide to change that as well!

I assume you do add limited slip additive to the front Dana 30?

Royal Purple 75W140 in mine. No additives needed with any good synthetic.

BTW the RP and Mobil one were the same price at my local Auto parts store.

1.35 Quarts for your D30
