My Jeep does not have the OEM limited slip and was thinking of adding one down the road. I do not have the mechanical skill to install a lsd myself and would have a pro do it. But I was just wondering what all is involved when installing a lsd, say the oem Trac-Lok? Would it require completely removing the rear gears to install it?

 

Measure the backlash with a dial indicator before removing the carrier. Set the backlash to the same amount when installing the LSD. The pattern will be the same.
