last time I checked the Eaton e Locker was only a 2 pin design for Dana 44 which is inferior to the factory Elocker and and the ARB.

I've run nearly every locker and wheeled many areas and still prefer my simple, stupid Detroits. I think selectable can be very important for certain areas but it can be accomplished other ways. I use my t-case as my selector. A 2 low kit or an Atlas is great addition and will make your rig much more adaptable to various areas. On a recent trip to the Rubicon, I found that many in our group were in 2wd low much of the time, even the guys with selectable lockers at both ends.

In the locked position, a front selectable is much harder to steer than a Detroit.

ARBs have proven to be the most durable selectable for a D44. OX makes a good unit (and it's getting better) but it won't fit a PR housing. For many users an ARB is a great (or best) option, just keep in mind that what makes it good- selectabilty- can also make it bad. YOU have to select it. There are times that not doing it at the right time or not doing it at all can cause big problems. Even the best/most experienced guys forget to lock it up sometimes. Sometimes forgetting doesn't matter but at other times it can be a huge PITA.

In the end, there is no perfect locker. If I had my dream locker it would be an electric selectable from Truetrac to Detroit (instead of open to spool). Yeah, I'm a dreamer.

Thank u very much for your input guys. Seems like most people say go with the ARB but can't tell me why.

I'm leaning toward the Detroit now that dynatrac made some good points.

Wayolife? Any opinions would be appreciated. I imagine that u have driven both where I bet a lot of guys haven't.

There were some spots at Moab (in Pritchetts and Hell's Revenge) where I wished I had a Detroit up front. My ARB works great don't get me wrong, but I think the Detroit would have been a better decision.

I have an ARB in the rear. And a Rubicrawler so I can do 2lo

Ok well someone like me who isn't running an atlas transfer case, would you guys still go with the Detroit? Or are you going with the simple stupid Detroit bc you have the 2lo option which I do not.

And thanks dynatrac for your excellent information

There ya go...Detroits! I've ran most all of them also.
Detroits with 2WL was my favorite set up, simple yet very effective not to mention I kinda miss the manly on-road quirks
I'm running ARB's in my 12JKU....

The only one I've found is from Teraflex. The description specifies it's for the 241-OR, I.E., Rubicon case.

Yes, you're right, it's a Rubi only kit.

Is it true that a Detroit up front can lock up for a second even when in 2wd on the highway when u hit a bump in the road? I've read that and heard that the Detroit is just not highway friendly, even up front in 2wd
