Alright guys Im in this small dilema....i dont know what to get next. Im looking at 4 different directions to go and they all have there ups and downs. I dont have alot of cash so im building my JK slowly....which is fun but gets difficult sometimes.

The three items im looking at are new gears/ lockers, trektop, rear bumper, and snorkal.

I cant stand that horrible rattling!! I also dont want my tailgate to get messed up so for my bumper im looking at the Rancho because its small and mainly inexpensive, however i have seen some bad reviews...i was thinking of doing some fabrication mods and adding gas can holders to the sides of it.

I wanted to get the bikini, duster deck cover and windjammer combo...but ive come to the conclusion that the trektop would be better suited for my needs. Since i have just a hardtop i dont really ever get the roof off jeep feel unless i take all that time and energy to get the top off...the hardtop is nice to have but overall annoying.

then the gears....ive still got whatever the stock gears are that my JK came with....id like to upgrade to get my power back to compensate for the 35" tires...but since the most expensive part of this upgrade is the labor...i was also wanting to add the lockers at the same time...

the snorkal is a need...for sure...so i dont suck in water since i am infact quite the adventurer...but i feel without the gears and lockers i should avoid snorkal worthy waters anyhow...

kinda perplexing...any opinions would be great...thanks!

gears/lockers if you can afford it. after that I say bumper-swingaway. then top, then snork.

I would go with the gears and lockers first. Spend a little over $100 for a Rampage oversize tire carrier as a temporary solution (I have 35s in mine and no sagging). Then the snorkel and the top last.

Go with the modification that you will beneift you the most.

Example: if you don't have a lift and larger tires then you don't need the gears right now.

I just put on a new steering stabilzer but I need a winch. The steering stabilzer is used everyday and the winch is not. I know it is a huge price difference but a choice that made sense to me.

Good Luck!

my problem is i just dont kno enough about gears and lockers....ive got 35" tires and it does feel much different than when my jeep was stock....i just need to know if im gonna spend that kinda money will it be worth it. Such as improved power off road and on...better gas mileage...it has to be quite substantial but i just dont know enough really...

you must have a stick, cause on my auto the 35s were a slug on my 4.10s. Or, your jeep had a really crappy ratio to start with and the Jeep started off a slug. The gear change will give you a huge power increase, If you had 31"-32" tires and 3.21s or even 3.73s then you will be really surprised when you feel 4.88 or 5.13s spinning those 35s. I love my 5.13s. I really like when I am on the trail and guys in front of me are riding there brakes down the mountain trail and I can just put mine in 1 and crawl down it no brakes. Having all that control and steering down the trail is awesome.

I spent $599 on my superior gears and install kits at northridge4x4, $550 for labor at my local 4x4 hut, and about $30 at oreillys for pinion bearings. So it was about $1200 total for just the gears. It was 100% worth it though. If you can get gears done at the same time. Unless they are selectable that they have to wire or plumb they shouldn't really charge you much if any extra for it. Good luck with your hard decision, and let us know what you do!
