what paint to use on New bumper
My bmupers come in on Thursday and I am going to do the Rustoleum Primer/Bedliner on Friday. Figured at $25 for a few coats how could I go wrong? If I don't like it or it isn't durable I just get it sandblasted off and pay the money for powdercoating. But if I spend a few hundred dollars for powdercoating and it isn't durable I am out a lot more money. $25 and my time and easy touch up sounds like the plan (for now)...
You can also do touch ups on your own when you scrap on rocks or the trail.
I rustoleum bed lined all my psc stuff as well as my rear frame. My bumper is coming in today and I am thinking of raptor lining it which is as thick as line x. Has anyone had experience with this? Im concerned it will be really thick and won't spray evenly over the thin cuts of the spyder cut out logo? Also the rustoleum does look good but if you like to get dirty it won't come off. Be prepared for mud stains. The only way I've found to get rid of it is to scrub it clean then re coat. Here's how the spray on bed liner looks on the rear frame.

I'd recommend using rustoleum self etching primer on the bare steel first. Then sand it after each coat because sometimes the cans spray funky and you get a little texture which will junk up your bed liner coat. Besides getting dirt stains i would def go this route. Good prep and sanding the primer will give you great results. Plus like everyone says you won't be pissed you just scratched your $150 paint job on a tree or rock when you do it yourself and touch up is a breeze.

Here are some shots of my prep/paint on my PSC Brawler Skid (my bumper didn't arrive they accidentally shipped it to the wrong state).
My process was:
Hope this helps anything thinking about their coatings.

My process was:
- I general cleaned the skid plate
- Sanded with 400 grit sandpaper
- Note - based upon my results I would suggest sanding with 80 grit paper
- Cleaned with mineral spirits
- Applied three coats of Rustoleum Self Etching Primer
- Note - did not sand between because I like the gritty texture
- Applied three coats of Rustoleum Truck Bedliner
Hope this helps anything thinking about their coatings.
