May be true with other tires also-but my Duratrac 33x12.50x15 measure 31.7 tall with 28 psi. Looks like you should get at least a 34" if you want close to 33 tall.

I ran BFG AT's on my '04 TJ. Awesome on the road and off. I am getting BFG AT's (35"x12.5 r 17) for my JK this week. I can't wait. I feel so naked with the steelies on.

just my .02, I've been eyeing up some Kelly Safari TSR's. They're a very aggressive looking all terrain, and very reasonably priced. Not sure how they perform though. Supposedly they are manufactured by Good Year...

I've run DuraTracs and Mickey Thompson ATZ's on my TJ. Both good tires, but more expensive for a 17" wheel.

After researching, you'll notice another benefit to getting a 15" wheel is the price of tires are drastically cheaper.

They look quite siilar to the Duratracs, and Kelly is owned by GY.

Only downside is the biggest size in a 15" is a 31"

Default How can I run 285 70/17s Duratracs?

I fit checked a set and in tight turns the inside of the knobs hit the sway bar? Should I use spacers?

Thank you,

I'd go with Duratracs. Also the Nitto Trail Grapplers I hear are very smooth and quiet on road and can hold there own off road.

Yup, I've got them and love 'em. They're quiet on the road, handle very well in the wet and dry, and are fairly aggresive looking for an A/T. I can't vouch for them for heavy offroad use but judging by the tread pattern they should due well everywhere except sticky mud.

Nitto Terra Grappler. I have them on my 05 F150 in 35,s. And on my 2011 Jeep in 285/70/17. I know they wear out quick on pavement, but off road the handle just about anything, Now mud they are a hit and miss, just depends how deep the mud is. Deep snow ( we had over 2 feet last year ) I didnt have to use 4 wheel drive in my F150 very often. They are very expensive for a AT tire I think.
I use to run SPORT KING AT tires , biggest in that tire is a 285/75/16. They are made by BFG so I was told, But they quit makeing them as of this year.
And they was almost same tread pattern as a BFG AT, but cost way less. They made MUD KINGS also, those you can still find, but no 17 inch sizes . Only 15 and 16 inch.
