Default What size rim width / backspacing ?

Hey guys. Going to be adding my lift soon and I have a set of 37x12.5x17 tires I'm going to put on. Question is. Should I get 17x8? Or 17x9? And how about backspacing ? I def do not want any rubbing issues.
Thanks guys.

17x9 wheel with 3.5" bs for a 37"x12.5" tire on the standard width axle. 4.5" bs is for a 35"x12.5" tire

When i had my 35s the 17x9s did not rub with 4.75 backspacing. When i put on my 37s they rubbed the frame and lower control arm so i had to get 1.5 wheel spacers (which is 3.25 total backspacing)now they dont rub. so i agree with dirtman at least 3.5 of backspacing. If you want to run 4.5 backspacing be prepared to stick quite a few washers in your steer stops

17x9 with 3.5bs shouldn't rub(doesnt on my setup.)
I had to trim my factory rubi rails but have no issues with the grill/frame.

Had 17x9 with 3.75bs on my last jk and didnt have issues either (37x13.5" tire)

Thinking about it, my buddy is running my old ProComp 7069 (17x9 4.75bs) with very slight adjustments to the steering stops to clear the frame at full lock(37x12.5 tires)

I have similar pro comps with same backspaciing and used 3 washers on each steer stop bolt and still rubbed on the frame at full lock. I said the hell with it I want my turning radius back and got the wheel spacers

walker evans have a 8.5" wide that is 3.75" bs. Those should work and are one of the best looking wheels on the road.
