The pros are a wider track for stability on and off-road and you can remove them for inspections. Most cops aren't going see your spacers, and you can remove them once a year. If you just get a wheel with less backspacing and you live in say, NJ, your tires may still stick out past the flares and they won't pass you for inspection.
well I'm not living in the states, and I have seen alot of cars with spacers including here, so I don't see the law applying it here really, besides that I work with the police, so I might double check with my colleagues

So the studs are going to wear out quicker?

spacers have been used for yrs by many without any premature bearing wear. His bearing was probably bad to begin with.

Spidertrax is the choice around this board. I bought some generic 1-1/4" off of Ebay from a seller that is reputable on another Jeep forum. They are well made and others have been using them with no regret.
I bought them, and had them on my vehicle the next afternoon. He ships quick.

Plus I'm not planning any heavy off roading that might punish them with any extra force.

I dont agree. The same mass is acting on the same point as there would be with a wheel with different backspacing equal to the wheel spacer.

This arguement is as old as the Oil or Ocatane arguments. Volumes written on each side, as far as I see it, it all comes down to what makes you comfy. If someone wants to believe wheel spacers are bad, they will, if not they wont. *shrugs*
