Default What would you do???

Looking for some input. I live close to the beach, mountains, and bog pits. Virginia Bch. to be exact. I have an '08 Sahara 4 dr stock. What would you do with $6000 to buy parts I have a well trust worthy and educated mechanic already so labor cost isn't a issue (let me know if you would like his info). But what would you do as far as a lift, wheels, tires, bumpers, etc. you name it. If you had $6000 to dump into a 4 dr stock WHAT WOULD YOU DO?!?

Here's what I think I would do.

Stage 1 - Lift, wheels, tires (35s at least), gears, and lockers. Only reason for lockers now is because the diffs will be open already while doing gears. I'm assuming you have 3.21 or 3.73 gears. With the 3.8 and 35s I think I would need bigger gears.

Stage 2 - See how much money I have left. I would get something to hold the bigger spare tire like Tera Flex hinge and carrier, front bumper, winch, beef up the front axle especially if it is a Dana 30.

By now I'm likely out of money.

Pretty much exactly what he said. And firsthand experience, 35"s and 3.21 gears are not fun. I'd also throw in beefing up your D30, it can be done fairly cheap too ($100) if you know a friend who can weld. Then I'd snag a front bumper and winch and if I had any money left a tire carrier and pull the rear stock bumper off.

'08? I've never driven a 3.8 JK but maybe a supercharger would be first on my list. Are you actually running into limits offroad? If you want a beefy look, then go for it. I'd focus on driveability first, then looks second but it's not my money to spend...

Good problem to have!

I say you start off simple with a basic lift and bigger tires. Then as you wheel you can buy things as you see fit. Lots of people dump tons of money into their rigs and don't ever need half the crap they buy.

I'd buy armor, beef up the steering, axles, and drive train then go for the lift, tires, and bumpers. Oh and don't forget about recovery gear!

Recovery gear would be at top of my list. You can use that when the Jeep is stock. Hi-lift, chain, shackles, strap, gloves, shovel, etc.. Everything adds up and is not cheap.

My 2 cents...

1- gears gears gears
2- trutrac or lockers whilest doing gears
3- reinforce 30 whilest doing gears and about
( thats half your budget)

4- small lift for 35s
5- wheel / tire package
....you are dry...

6- winch / bumper / recovery gear
7- gas and go...

Have fun with whatever you do! You must be outta your mind excited...

Good point, I just assumed he had that already. If you don't, get some, it'll save you one day
