Whats good for a heavy JK besides AEV springs?
Figured out my bowing issue with my coils. Looks to be just weight.
I took off my extra stuff and sure enough, no more bowing and sits well for the 3.5" RK coils. Trouble is, I don't want to ditch my fuel cans, water, drawer system, full width bumpers, etc... I don't do much rock crawling up in this neck of the woods so it got my lookign at other options. AEV shows their rigs with expedition setups and looks to have a lot more weight on there then what RK advertises. Trouble is I just got an email back from AEV saying they don't sell the coils separately, I would have to buy the full kit. Anyone else sell coils that are rated for more weight? I'm trying to net about 3.5-4" |
Spend some time reading through the big metalcloak thread. Tall coils that give the stated lift under armored rigs, people with lighter jeeps report some excess height.

What kit exactly do you have from RK. It's likely not the coils that's the issue as the stated height is with a heavy loaded jeep. RK was going to be a recommendation along with Metalcloak and Synergy.

I have the 3.5" triple rate rock krawler springs.
I have a feeling what they consider what a loaded Jeep is different then someone who would load it up for more overland then rock krawling. Most rock guys I see have stubies all the way around and chop stuff off. I wouldn't be able to run the metalcloak unless I got flat fenders I'm thinking? I have 37's and trimmed flares but only trimmed enough to keep them working with the ARB front full width. I didn't want the gap between the flare and the bumper or else I find it looks a bit goofy. |

And I'm also confused why you wouldn't be able to run metalcloak coils

No experience with RK coils, but here is my 3.5" MC's with 37" Falkens and stock flares (admittedly, it's relatively light. No armor or overlanding gear.). Chop the flares, and I would have over 9" of clearance between the tire and fender. Can't imagine that you are heavy enough to chew through all of that.

Go with the 3 1/2 MC's ! ! ! That's what I went with when my springs sunk 3".
My 2013 JKUR weighs in at 6000#'s when loaded. Sets nice and level and gives a great ride. |
