It's very sturdy, you could pick up the front end of the Jeep with it (not recommended use for working underneath vehicle). It doesnt stick out too far, im at work so i cant take an exact measurement, but it comes out a little, before going up.

I don't care if it "did" anything. I love the way they look the fact that it actually serves a purpose is a benefit. I know that that is an ignorant soundin statement it is true for me. As far as rear endin somebody??? Don't know I like to think that I am a resposible enough driver that doesn't tailgate and run to fast in adverse weather conditions to rear end somebody at a high rate of speed. I know the retourt to this is that things happen that we do not have control over, agreed. You can play the what if game like that all the time. I just like the way it looks and the added protection. When I get one I don't think that I will have to worry about damages if I hit a deer...plus hot chicks like to hang from it lol...

I'm not sure of various state laws on bumpers like these but I am "guessing" that in my over the top state of MA, we probably have a law that prohibits bumpers like this (not that the police enforce it).
Not sure if this is 100% accurate, but I heard here in California technically you are not supposed to have a bumper that protrudes more than 2 feet from the front of the grill.

There's actually a lot of states with laws like that. Technically in NJ you're supposed to have a full width bumper but I've seen plenty of Jeeps running stubs. I have no idea how this would possibly play out if something did happen. I guess just hope that your insurance company is a good one. And I'm not worried about the way I drive, but if you live near NYC or even close to the tri state area, you'll know how every highway is like running NASCAR. I really like the way a stinger looks too but the thought is always on the back of my mind.

I do not wheel hard enough to really need a stinger. The only bumper I could find with a strong grill guard that I liked, came with a stinger design.

Mainly for front end protection from the many deer running out of the grain fields that come right up to the road edge out here.

I actually pondered the liability of running this. But a high speed side or rear impact on a little car with a plate steel bumper, especially if your lifted, is going to cream someone anyway. You would probably have to stay with your stock bumper and no lift to not worry about the possibility of someone sueing you for a mod.
