I feel the same way. To me part of owning a Jeep is doing as much as you can yourself.

I recently did the front and rear axle shafts. With the help of folks on the forum and working carefully it's no big deal.

I did the steering wheel alignment and I did the batt disconnect. The lights are still on could there be another cause for the problem?

Im in the same boat as you.

After wheeling my steering wheel was off center... the next day, while turning onto the thruway my dashboard lit up lick a Christmas tree.

I checked for visual damage, impact spots and such... nothing. So i just re centered the steering wheel and the lights are still on.

Im going to take it to the dealer (just over 1000 miles) to see what they say... if there is a charge involved i plan on doing the work myself... but i should have a better idea whats bent or possibly broke

I used to have to recenter my steering wheel after almost every wheeling trip. I'm doing it far less since I installed te RockKrawler HD Tie Rod. I'll bet if I replace the factory drag link recentering will be a rare occurance. The factory tie rod looks beefy but it's a typical undersdesigned and underbuilt bean-counter inspired Jeep part. I hope somebody decent buys Jeep and starts to build them right. If they went and locked at the axle bracketry on a Dynatrac or Currie RockJock axle they'd know what to do on axles for instance.

I would be willing to bet the tierod is bent. if the it is the computer lights up the BAS ESP lights with an " ALIGNMENT " code in the computer. in other words because the tierod is bent your alignment is off. The factory tierods are flimsy as all hell. At east coast JK fest i bent my tierod, all the lights came on, as soon as i put the new one on,(which was in the parking lot of the OR park) and hit the highway all the lights went off. It is the next thing on my upgrade list as soon as the wife approves it

Yup, I've spoken to several people who were having to recenter all the time who do it far less after they've replaced the factory tie rod. I know from expereince that once they bend they only get weaker and worse. I'll bet I never have to do it when the factroy drag link goes away too.
