Default Which wheel size?!?

Greetings fellow JKers, need some opinions please!

In a few months I will be (hopefully) getting the Teraflex 2.5" coil lift for my JKU Sport (white). Like most of us, I did tons of research before making my decision. Now I am at a crossroads though... Wheels and Tires.... Here is where I am at...

ProComp Alloys (black), 7069 with Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs

My question is which do you think would be a better...

315 70 r17s or 315 75 r16s?

Are there any pro/cons to these two different wheel sizes?

This is my DD and any wheeling I do will most likely be on sand with the occasional mud trail...

Thanks!

I have the 17s. The only diff between the two are sidewall size. I do just fine with the 315/70R17

17" for overall selection and size choices.

Not much difference between the two for you, but if you ever plan to go bigger than that, 17's should be your choice. It's getting somewhat difficult to find anything bigger on 16's

The main reason for me considering the 16's is price, both the wheels and tires would be cheaper. I'm looking at saving a few hundred dollars if I went with the 16's...

I like 15 and 16" wheels. Gives the tires a nice beefy look, perform well and you save a few bucks. Here's my 35's on 15's first day I got em, before painting rear wheel well. Click image for larger version

I like it! Looks good! Great job of having a stock Jeep in there for comparison!

Either rim would be OK.
With the same tire type, and aired down, you may feel a little bit more steering accuracy with the 17.

The larger rim, if of good quality, may help in somewhat reducing the balancing difficulty.
I have Pro Comp (7105 Xtreme), medium quality rims. When I got them, one wheel refused to balance.
It turned out to be twisted a bit... the dealer replaced it.

I say go for the 17s. More choices. More options.
