Interesting responses. I too am adding a 2" EMU lift next week and am deciding whether to / or not to add spacers. I'm told that they aren't required for this lift and stock Rubi wheels with stock Rubi tires, but the wider stance looks great and wider track (to me) should result in a more stable on-road ride. Not so?

I ran 1 1/2" Spidertrax spacers on mine for almost a year with a 1.75" lift.
No difference in ride (increase in height offset by increased track) and it looked
better overall. I removed them 'cause here in PA my JK wouldn't pass inspection with them on. Too much trouble putting them on and off so I sold them.

Before and after:

Yes, simple physics - more stable the wider you go. If someone pulls out in front of you and you have to make a sharp turn, an inch or two wider stance could make a difference.

I just couldn't handle the mud all over the place every time it rained. Nothing like going into work with wet mud on your ass just from getting out of the Jeep. Probably not an issue with a stocker.

I always here people complain about mud getting thrown up with spacers, but isn't running 1.5" spacers pretty much the same thing as installing wheels with 4.5" or 4.75" of backspacing? So why do spacers cause more mud?

JoeBlob, so with all those mods you have, you are still running stock wheels or aftermarket wheels with 6.25" of backspacing?

It is not pretty much the same it is the same thing.

There is no safety issues with a properly installed spiderrax wheel spacer they are a great spacer.

Your tires will stick out to, or past, the edge of the fender flares with spacers; this causes your tires to throw up mud, rain, or whatever you're driving through, beyond the edge of the flares and onto your door, side steps, door handle, etc.

Inconvenient? Yes, but I'm more than willing to live with it - it makes the Jeep look SOOOO much better IMO.

I agree. With a little of the Loctite provided those Spidertrax are PITA to get off. No chance of them coming off and your wheel going anywhere without you.
