Question Wheel and tire sizing??

Hey I am looking to have my jeep lifted up to probally around 3", and I have talked to a shop and they told me keeping 17" rims and going to 33" would rub. But from what i saw in the modified tech faq thread that dident seem to be a problem. Is anyone running a similar set up and running into rubbing problems with out spacers. Thanks for the help

YES, you WILL RUB.

Well. I got around 3" on my suspension lift.

I can tell you that you WILL experience rubbing with Stock Wheels and 33's.

It will vary depending on who Manufactures the tire and how wide it is.

Here are a few pictures for your review. This is with a 3" Lift and Stock Rubicon Wheels and Tires:

hmmm think it be better just to go with 16's for the rims? the guy at the shop said that or spacers would be an option to stay with the 17s. Just dident want to "downgrade" from the 17s when i got it

It is all up to you. The lower you go in wheel size the cheaper you pay in tires.

Say the 35" KM2'S for 17" Stock wheels are around $315, you'll find the same size tire in the KM2's on a 15 inch wheel for under $200.00!

Take a long look at the link below.

Don't forget what you use the Jeep for! I don't see spending $$$ on nice looking wheels because they will end up getting scratched and broken. Some people can afford it, but I can't.

It's not the size of the tire and rim that is causing the issue. It is the amount of back spacing (BS). You need a wheel that 4.5" of BS or less and you will not rub....As said earlier if you go to a 15" wheel the tire will be cheaper.
