Default trim inner fenders

I know this post is a bit older but, how did you cut the inner fender liners with a razor? I was gonna try that but the plastic is super tough. Did you heat the blade? I cut all my fenders with a razor by hand. Its pretty rough. Is using a heat source to melt the edges flush better, or just filing and sanding? I need to smooth it out before applying the door edge trim. FYI to those thinking of hand trimming their fenders... it's a hard process but it works.
